The Kepez Municipality has imposed a total of 104,027 TL in fines on 83 street vendors (peddlers) who were selling without permission in marketplaces across the district. Following comprehensive inspections conducted since April 2024, 428 street vendors have been removed from the marketplaces by Kepez Municipal Police.

Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz stated, “Our street vendors are invaluable to us. We will never tolerate those who disregard their hard work and engage in unregistered sales.”

Following the 2024 local elections, the Kepez Municipality has increased its inspections of street vendors (peddlers) in order to ensure a peaceful and orderly shopping environment in the district. With the arrival of Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz, a comprehensive crackdown has been launched against street vendors selling without permission in the marketplaces. In the first phase, inspections were conducted around the Demirgül Çarşamba Market, Zafer Saturday Market, Yenidoğan Monday Market, Güneş Saturday Market, Fevzi Çakmak Thursday Market, Gülveren Thursday Market, and Yeni Mahalle Pazar Pazarı. A total of 266 street vendors (hawkers) were removed from the area. A total of 33,727 TL in administrative fines were imposed on 33 street vendors operating without a permit in the same areas.

INSPECTIONS CONTINUED TO INCREASE IN 2025

As of 2025, municipal police teams conducted regular inspections at 50 marketplaces (17 indoor, 19 outdoor, 7 street, and 7 village markets) operating within the borders of Kepez. Unauthorized sales were particularly targeted in the Zafer Kapalı Saturday Market, Emek Salı Market, Gülveren Thursday Market, Yeni Mahalle Pazar Pazarı, and Teomanpaşa Friday Market, which attracted significant public interest. In this context, 50 street vendors were fined a total of 70,300 TL, and 162 other street vendors were removed from the area.

83 Street Vendors Fined

As a result of comprehensive operations conducted since April 2024, a total of 428 street vendors in Kepez were removed from the market areas. During the same period, 83 street vendors were fined a total of 104,027 TL.
