29.05.2025

Edirne Governor Sezer announced that work is being done to reduce the waiting times for expats entering Türkiye.
Preparations have been completed at the Kapıkule Border Gate, the first stop in Türkiye, where expats living in Europe will begin to spend their holidays as of June 22. Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, who examined the preparations at the border gate, also held a meeting with local administrators, customs and smuggling directors, and representatives of customs and trade businesses. Making statements after the meeting, Sezer stated that they are working to ensure that expat citizens can enter their countries comfortably and peacefully, and said, "Of course, all our units are working in great coordination in this sense. This year, we have made active plans at all four of our gates. Of course, unlike last year, this year, Bulgaria has started implementing the Schengen visa. Therefore, we expect an increase in the number of people coming from Bulgaria, crossing over to the Greek side and coming to Türkiye this year. Therefore, we expect an increase at our Pazarkule gate this year. We will take the necessary precautions there, we will increase our capacity there. Last year, we used our Hamzabeyli gate very intensively for exits. This year, we are planning to add eight additional counters, four at the entrance and four at the exit, at both our Hamzabeyli and Ipsala gates, and to provide personnel for these gates. This is very important for us.
