
Minister Ersoy: The main goal is 12 months of tourism in 81 provinces

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the main goal in tourism is to spread tourism activities to 81 provinces and 12 months of the year, considering environmental, cultural and economic sustainability.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy attended the May meeting of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (AKTOB) in Antalya. Governor Hulusi Şahin, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED) President Erkan Yağcı and tourism sector representatives attended the meeting, where AKTOB President Kaan Kaşif Kavaloğlu made a presentation and evaluated the developments in Türkiye's emerging new source markets Poland and Romania.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the new season in tourism has started and that the season has gained momentum with the month of May, and made evaluations for 2024 and 2025. Minister Ersoy, who noted that 2024 was a period in which historical records were broken for Turkish tourism, said, "Thankfully, we completed the year with 62.3 million visitors and 61.1 billion dollars of revenue by revising our targets upwards. We achieved a 64 percent increase in the number of visitors and a 95.5 percent increase in tourism revenues between 2017 and 2024." 2025 Target: 64 Billion Dollars
Minister Ersoy stated that this increase is an indicator of the importance given not only to quantity but also to quality, and said, "Indeed, as of the first quarters, the average nightly expenditure per person of our foreign visitors was 75 dollars in 2017, and reached 106 dollars in 2024 and 116 dollars in 2025. These developments were also reflected in the United Nations Tourism Organization rankings. Our country, which ranked 8th in 2017, rose to 5th in 2023 and 4th in 2024. Our target for 2025 is 65 million tourists and 64 billion dollars in income." Strategic Promotion Activities
Minister Ersoy stated that Antalya is determinedly progressing towards becoming one of the most important tourism destinations not only in Türkiye but also in the world, and said, “This success is not only the result of our natural beauties but also the strategic promotion activities we have carried out and the strong collaborations we have established with our local stakeholders. One of the architects of all these success stories is undoubtedly the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency. Since its establishment, TGA has been successfully carrying out our country's promotion strategy not only on a national but also on a global scale.”
